Established in Malaysia’s northern state of Kedah Darul Aman, the Faculty of Medicine at AIMST University is a campus-based private sector institution. The MBBS program offered by AIMST University is accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), ensuring that it meets stringent standards of quality and excellence.

In addition to its undergraduate MBBS program, the Faculty of Medicine at AIMST University also offers Bachelors in Biomedical sciences and postgraduate programs at the master’s and PhD levels

Programme Outline

The MBBS programme is an outcome based integrated curriculum across five years. The curriculum is divided into two phases preclerkship phase (year 1 & 2) and the clerkship phase ( year 3,4 & 5).

The Preclerkship phase is of two years at the AIMST University campus .This phase lays the foundation for the clinical programme by ensuring a comprehensive teaching learning and assessment of the organ systems .This phase also exposes the student to the community and patients early in their education and ensures adequate development of ethics, professionalism and empathy which are essential components of a future doctor. The year 1 & 2 systems are:

Clerkship phase
The clerkship phase consists of three years divided into the junior and senior clerkship years. The clerkship phase consist of training at the government hospitals .Year 3 & 4 has clinical sessions at the hospitals everyday with small group theory sessions in the campus . The year five (senior clerkship) is completely at the Hospital Sultana Bahiya .The students learn by shadowing the housemen and observing the process and procedures in the wards along with clerking patients, in readiness for becoming a houseman.

Minimum Entry Requirements

QUALIFICATION  ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS 
A-Levels / STPM Grades BBB, ABC or AAC in 3 subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics
AIMST Foundation in Science / Matriculation / Foundation in Sciences / Pre-Medical courses** (courses ≥ 1 year in the same institution) CGPA 3.0 (out of 4) in 3 subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics
UEC B4 each in 5 subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Additional Mathematics
UNSW Foundation /MUFY/ Western Australia Curriculum Council/ HSC Sydney Australia/ Trinity College Foundation Studies/ Australian Universities Foundation Programmes/ South Australian Matriculation (SAM)/ Victorian Certificate of Education, Australia Year 12/ Ausmat Aggregate or average of 80% in any 3 subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics Or 80% ATAR provided the subjects include Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics
National Certificate of Education Achievement (NCEA) Level 3 / New Zealand Bursary Average of 80% in any 3 subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics
CPU/CIMP/Canadian Grade 12/13/ Ontario Secondary School Diploma Grade 12 Average of 80% in any 3 subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics
Indian Pre-University Average of 70% in 3 subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics. Pass the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)
Diploma in Health Science (courses ≥2 1/2 years or 5 semesters in the same institution) CGPA ≥ 3.0 and minimum 2 Bs in Biology and / or Chemistry and/ or Physics and 3 Credits each in English, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and another subject at School Certificate Level
Other qualifications Will be assessed and referred for approval on case by case basis

  • For Malaysian students MUET band 4 needed
  • For international candidates pass IELTS with min band of 6.0 or TOEFL with min 550 paper-based or equivalents
  • SPM /O- levels requirement: Applicants must have obtained (5Bs each in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics) and another subject.
  • Malaysian applicants who seek employment in the public sector are required to attain credit in Bahasa Malaysia & English

  • Clinician and specialist with various specialisations. You can choose to serve as a general practitioner after horsemanship training and registration with MMC. Or you can choose to become a specialist in the chosen field after the prescribed period of training as medical officers in the specialty, and later move on to subspecialities.
