The PhD (Pharmacy) programme is designed to provide students with the opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills in designing, constructing and conducting original research in the pharmacy-related fields.

This programme aims to produce motivated leaders with strong research skills to fulfil the manpower needs of the country.

Traditionally, a PhD involves three to four years of full-time study in which the student completes a substantial piece of original research presented as a thesis or dissertation. It is an instant of research accomplishments and future direction in the research field. In summary, the most important thing in a PhD program is finding a good fit for your research interests, goals, and working style.

Minimum Entry Requirements

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS 
  • A master degree in the field or related fields accepted by the HEP senate
  • Candidates without a related qualification in the field or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the HEP
  • Other qualifications equivalent to a master’s degree recognised by the Government of Malaysia
  • International candidates should have the international English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Grade 6.0) / Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) 550 score proper-based or equivalences, and must pass the Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi 2 course within the candidature period
  • Master of Science (MSc) in Pharmacy or in a related field from AIMST University or any established universities, approved by the AIMST University Senate.
MQA REQUIREMENT 
  • Masters by Research & Masters by Mixed Mode
  • CGPA > 2.75, for 2.75 >CGPA> 2.5 can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment.
  • Masters by coursework: Min CGPA of 2.5
  • *Int Student- TOEFL Min Score 550 or IELTS Min Score 6.0. If No Language Criteria, then need to pass Language Placement Examination at University Level.
