CULTIVATE READING HABIT AMONG KIDS

An earlier write-up entitled, 'Cultivate reading habit among kids' by Dr. Gokul Shankar Sabesan, Senior Associate Professor and Deputy Dean (Student Affairs) at the Faculty of Medicine, has won appreciations from educators and professionals from different parts of the world.

ROPE IN PHARMACISTS TO HELP ACHIEVE HERD

Malaysia faces challenges in achieving the 80 percent herd immunity to arrest the spread of Covid-19. The success of herd immunity depends on the availability of vaccines, manpower, vaccination centres and the populace's acceptance rate.

Mr. Ng Yen Ping, dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy AIMST University has suggested roping in pharmacists to administer the Covid-19 vaccination process in the country. The dean has also provided a list of countries that have permitted pharmacists to administer vaccines.

Cultivate reading habit among kids

Dr. Gokul Shankar Sabesan, Senior Associate Professor and Deputy Dean (Student Affairs) at the Faculty of Medicine, has contributed his views on reading habits among children and the difference in their liking.

With a significant decline in the reading habit among children of the present generation, who are mainly obsessed with electronic gadgets, Dr. Gokul has come up with reasons why children and teenagers should be encouraged to read.

Six ways to avoid Covid-19-associated black fungus

There is a prefatory siren with the emergence of Covid-19-associated Mucormycosis or CAM. Caused by Mucor, a ubiquitous organism present in the environment, Mucormycosis is popularly termed as "black fungus" which will cause infections ranging from loss of vision to death.

Being timely, Dr. Gokul Shankar, a Senior Associate Professor in Microbiology at AIMST University has come up with six precautions that should be taken to avoid the sickness through an article titled ‘Six ways to avoid Covid-19-associated black fungus’.

Dr. Vaishnavi Vedam, a senior lecturer at AIMST University’s Faculty of Dentistry has contributed an article on ‘Remember M.O.U.T.H. Fascinatingly, the dental lecturer has outlined 11 keys to fighting mouth cancer, using the name itself as mnemonic- ‘M.O.U.T.H. C.A.N.C.E.R.’ Dr. Vaishnavi Vedam has also contributed some important statistics on oral cancer in Malaysia.
