DECELERATION OF INFECTIONS WILL NARROW CHANCES OF NEW MUTATIONS EMERGING

‘Deceleration of infections will narrow chances of new mutations emerging’ is an opinion piece by the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of AIMST University, Professor Datuk Dr. John Antony Xavier. DROWNING, A SILENT KILLER OF OUR YOUNG

In commemoration of the World Drowning Prevention Day held annually on 25 July, Dr. Krishnan Rajam, Senior Professor at the Faculty of Medicine AIMST University, has contributed an article titled ‘Drowning, a silent killer of our young’. According to Dr. Krishnan Rajam, lack of both ‘official’ and public awareness of drowning risk assessment and management, compounded by lack of resources, pose major stumbling blocks to effective drowning prevention in Malaysia.

AIMST University’s Faculty of Medicine alumnus and Miri Hospital psychiatrist Dr. Ravivarma Rao Panirselvam has written an interesting and timely article in the New Sarawak Tribune. The article on ‘How to prevent suicides’ was published on 7th July 2021. In the article, Dr. Ravivarma emphasised the need for a comprehensive suicide prevention strategy in collaboration with healthcare, social care, economic and legal support to form a safety net.

Taper tantrum refers to the 2013 collective reactionary panic that triggered a spike in U.S. Treasury yields, after investors learned that the Federal Reserve was slowly putting the brakes on its quantitative easing (QE) program.
