It is with great pride that we congratulate Dr. Sok Cin Tye, an esteemed alumna of the Faculty of Pharmacy (FOP) at AIMST University, on her extraordinary achievement as the first recipient of the Andrew P. Goldberg Early Career Award at the American Diabetes Association (ADA) 84th Scientific Sessions. Dr. Sok, now a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Section on Genetics and Epidemiology at the Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School, exemplifies unparalleled dedication and excellence in her field. This prestigious award highlights her significant contributions to diabetes research. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Helmsley Charitable Trust for their generous support of the ADA Scholars Program. PHARMACY STUDENTS PROMOTE HEALTH AWARENESS IN KULIM COMMUNITY EVENT
Seven pharmacy students from AIMST University, accompanied by their co-advisor, Ms. Ng Jing, and practicing pharmacists from MPS Kedah-Perlis, dedicated their Saturday morning on 22 June 2024, to promoting health awareness and advocating for safe medication practices in Kulim, Kedah. The event fostered a dynamic environment that brought together elderly individuals and young children alike, creating an interactive space for education. To commence the event, the pharmacy students invigorated participants with a series of stretching exercises. This initiative not only energised the attendees but also provided invaluable opportunities for the students to engage with the community and hone their skills in delivering appropriate counseling on health and medication use. TRIUMPH AT NIDSQ 2024
The National Intervasity Dental Sciences Quiz (NIDSQ) 2024 took place at the National University of Malaysia (UKM) on 15 June 2024, drawing participation from 17 teams representing various dental universities across Malaysia, including AIMST University. AIMST University fielded three teams, Team STARTER, Team Bombibi, and Team Denticola. In an impressive display of skill and knowledge, Team STARTER comprising of year 5 members from Batch 15, namely Richard Lee Boon Xiang, Sammy Yeoh Pei Mei, Teh Szu Ann, and Tiang Shi Jie, emerged as the champions in the final round. Team Bombibi showcased their prowess by advancing to the semi-final round and securing a place in the top 10 teams of the competition. Team Denticola also made a commendable showing by qualifying for the first round. These achievements underscore AIMST University’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded students who excel not only in academics but also in extracurricular activities.
